Heading back to Mississippi from Kentucky via Nashville, we finally got to try The Loveless Café, known for its incredible biscuits! A few years ago, we stopped in to grab a bite before seeing Katy Perry in concert, but this place is pretty popular (especially on weekends). So, there was no chance we could wait an hour or more on a table, no matter how delicious the biscuits were promised to be. We can now say we understand the biscuit obsession, and I am also totally enamored with the creamed corn.

The Loveless Café
Nashville, Tennessee | lovelesscafe.com
Address: 8400 TN-100
The Loveless Café began as a roadside stop for travelers on Highway 100 to get their bellies full. Lon and Annie Loveless served biscuits, fried chicken, and country ham from their home. They were so successful that their home was converted into a bustling restaurant and a motel was built on the property. Lon and Annie sure knew how to serve up some of that southern hospitality!
Today, hungry travelers and locals alike still visit the home of Lon and Annie, which is now an institution in Nashville. The motel has been converted to small shops and several other buildings have been added to the property for entertaining, weddings, and a gift shop.
Pro Tip: There’s almost no wait during the week! We stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon and were seated immediately. YMMV

What did we order?
After careful consideration of the pretty substantial menu, which can be found online here, Mark went with the fried chicken, Kayla got the Loveless Cafe BLT (we definitely recommend paying extra and getting fried green tomatoes for that extra tangy flavor!), and I got a plate full of sides.
The chicken was okay, a bit dry, and was not our favorite type of southern fried chicken. This is purely based on what your favorite type of fried chicken is. It has a simple breading and not much in the way of added flavor. I’d go for KFC’s eleven herbs and spices, but that’s just me.
The Loveless Café became famous because of its biscuits, fried chicken, and country ham, but, honestly, reviews can be hit or miss on some of the meats. I opted for what always looks like a winner at The Loveless Café: the side dishes.

For $10.99 (at this time of writing), I got the Four Side Dish Meal plate with slow cooked green beans, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and Southern creamed corn. I’ll have you know that I ate every bite!
While I left no food on my plate at all, the gravy for the mashed potatoes and the creamed corn were the standouts here. I found myself in one of those predicaments where I wanted everyone to try a bite of the creamed corn while also hoarding it all for myself.
It’s the best creamed corn I’ve ever had in my life, and you won’t believe this… The Loveless Café has the recipe for the creamed corn online!
