Print Our 2017 Pop-Up Travel-Inspired Valentine’s Day Card!
Every year, I feel compelled to make something lovely for our readers for Valentine’s Day. Do you feel the love? You should.
In the past, we’ve had simple Valentine’s Day cards and a beautiful 8×10 print, but this year, I wanted something a bit more FUN. More in-your-face. My idea? Pop-up card. Yessssss.
The card reads: “No Matter Where I Go…You Are Always With Me.”
Give one to your travel companion for a double-meaning! Give one to a best friend, family member, or significant other that you leave while traveling to let them know you’re thinking of them always. Give one to your pet because you know they’re always in your heart every single day!
Get your printer ready, and let’s make a DIY pop-up card! Besides paper of your choice, you will also need glue and scissors.
1. Print the following files individually. Each image should fill an entire page. *They are all sized to fit 8.5″ by 11″ which is standard letter-sized paper in the USA. If you’ve got thick card stock and the know-how, you can print the outside image and inside image on one page, using both the front and back of the paper.
2. Once you have your images printed, glue the inside and outside together, back to back, to form the base of your card. Fold in half.
3. Cut out the pop-up image of the airplane and hearts. Carefully, create a fold that falls halfway on the plane vertically. Create two more folds vertically on two hearts closest to the plane (use the top center point of each heart as your reference point).
4. Now, you will glue the hearts down on either side of the card to create the pop-up effect. (You may want to play with the placement of the pop-up before adding glue to make sure the pop-up does not protrude from the card when it’s closed.) Add glue from the folds of the hearts outward on each side. Attach to the card approximately one inch from each edge.
